Rick Wurster, CFA, CMT
Chief Executive Officer, Chair of the Investment Committee
Rick Wurster is the Chief Executive Officer of Windhaven Investment Management, Inc. He is the Chair of the firm’s Investment Committee, a member of the Portfolio Management Team, and the Management Committee.
Before joining Schwab, Rick spent 10 years at Wellington Management where he was the portfolio manager of several products that leveraged Rick’s expertise in fundamental, quantitative, and technical analysis across global asset classes as well as his expertise in portfolio construction and risk management. These products included Real Total Return (a GTAA strategy), Global Managed Risk (risk parity), Trust Target Series (Target Date funds) and Unconstrained Themes (an unconstrained equity product). Rick also had broader leadership responsibilities and spent time as a leader of the asset allocation business, served on the firm’s technology leadership committee and was a member of Wellington’s equity review group which provided oversight and guidance for the firm’s equity strategies.
Prior to Wellington, he worked at McKinsey & Company where he was a leader of the asset management practice and conducted various investment, strategic, and operational projects for the senior management of asset managers, institutional investors, private equity firms, and insurance companies. He was a frequent speaker at asset management conferences.
In addition to Windhaven, Rick serves as CEO of Thomas Partners, Inc., also a wholly owned subsidiary of The Charles Schwab Corporation.
Rick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Villanova University and has an MBA degree from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) and Chartered Market Technician® (CMT) designations.
